Rugby League Still Adheres To Decision About Amalgamation
The position of the amalgamation scheme of the Auckland Rugby League was reviewed at the meeting of the board of control last evening by the chairman, Mr. .1. W. Watson. He said he had met members of the two clubs concerned, and thought that, the prospect, of the dissenting clubs (North Shore and .Mount Albert) as at present constituted, coming into the scheme most remote. Mr. Watson added that if the board made any change in its decision, it must go back to the 1911 status. Mr. I-:. ,1. I'helan urged that co-opera-tion was desired. Delegates of the Senior Officers' Association opposed any change in the previous decision, and the board decided to adhere to its previous decision to allow only six teams in the senior competition. The junior board notified that its season will commence in all grades on May Hi. with a try-out on Saturday next, i The ground charges to Carlaw Park [ for soldiers and visit ing men of Allied nations will be (id. This had been arranged in conjunction with the Rugby I'nion and Socccr Association. Returned soldiers from this war will be admitted free. Life membership was grapted 1o Mr. CI.
