Bronzo And Grandora Impressive
ELLERSLIE ACTIVITIES
One of the best trials .seen at Ellerslie for some time was recorded by Bronzo and Grandora this morning, when they left five furlongs behind in 1.1 4-5. They were practically on terms at the finash, and were then displaying plenty of dash. Cherry's Ticket was also impressive over a similar distance in 1.2 1-5. Sheran the first two furlongs in 2 Is. and was not fully extended at the end of the trial. Ihe two-year-old Gentry covered five in 12 1-5, and this was a smart effort, as she worked alone. The visiting juveniles Coronaee and Broiveine took 1.3 3-5. the first two furlongs in 255. They were not ridden out over the concluding stages. Phaleron. one of the favourites for the Autumn Handicap, galloped with Foxsen, volifox and British Talent, and at the end of the first half, in 525, Phaleron was showing the way. He maintained his advantage throughout, but had little to spare from Foxsen at the post, with \olifox handy and British Talent further back. The time was 1.43 3-5.
Another solid mile was that of Night j Pilot. Odtaa and Koura Kka. the time ' being 1.4.'! 4-5. \s. ith Night Pilot doing a j shade better than Odtaa. The first, hallmile took 51 3-ss. and the victor, which i was ridden by .1. Bagby, had a good ileal i the best of the weights. j Two sprint candidates. Noble Fox and 1 Whackie, dashed over half a mile in 111 1;"' S. and in a similar task Dinky I)i and Kinstep recorded •(!» 2-r»s. All gallops took place on the course proper 25 r t out from the rails. Five Furlongs.-—British Mint beat Bournemouth, 1.5 2-5: Funnv Fox, 1.4: Sir Cameron beat Plav Girl, 1.4' 3-5; Colden Bonnet, 1.4 :i-5; Softly, 1.5 :!-5; Kadina, 1.3 3-5: Last. Survey, Grand Sight. Master Warden, 1.7 2-5: Victory Lass and Wee Pay, 1.4: Lady Vixen. 1.3; Marble Fox and Crispin. 1.4: Dependable, 1.1 3-5; Transcend (on tan), 1.8 1-5. Six Furlongs.—Hineiti, 1.20 3-5: Royal Musk and Snake Cully. 1.1!) 2-5: l.ady Acushla, Great Night. 1.21: Princess Vai, 1.19 4-.>: Royal Son, Radio Call beat Gold Age, 1.18 3-5; Lady Ex beat Krndale, 1.18 1-5. Seven Furlongs.—Red Warden, 1.31 2-5; Foxlore, Our Gold, 1.32 1-5. One Mile.—Prival, 1.54; Beverley, King Dazzle, 1.52 1-5. Round.—Silver Quex, 2.8 (last seven 1.34); Landveyor beat Bronze Kmerald, 2.9 (last seven 1.33 1-5). The Jumpers Fiylite (Fergus). Bronze Emerald (Cleaver) and Bright Idea (Pascoe) were schooled separately over two hurdles, all jumping well. Te Ronga (Cleaver) and Gold Land (Hearn) jumped four hurdles, Te Ronga giving a good exhibition. Bisquit (Mcßae) led Hackenschmidt (Hearn) over the sod wall, double anil stone wall. De Friend (Fergus). Gam« Pit (Cleaver) and Stokowski (Mcßae) were buOMied at the end of a round over the steeplechase course, with Conirie and Bay Bonnet several lengths away. De Friend gave a very encouraging showing, while Game Pit and Stokowski also pleased.
