FOOTBALL KICK-OFF
LEAGUE AND SOCCER CONTESTS
Four matches were played at Carlaw Park on Saturday in a series of trials held by the Auckland Rugby League to determine the number of teams to take part in the senior championship. Results were:—Richmond 7, Ponsonby 5; North Shore 24, Marist 13: City 10, Otahuhu 10; Mount Albert 22, Newton 5.
Two Soccer games at Blandford Park resulted: Naval Base beat Mount Albert Grammar Old Boys, 2—o; Metro-College beat Mercantile Marine, 6—o, centre-for-ward, L. D. Hope-Ede netting five of the goals.
