STAFFING PROBLEM

WORK FOR POST OFFICES ' OTHER DEPARTMENTS ASSIST Organising of the rationing scheme, said an official of the Auckland Chief Post Office this morning, will be done by the post offices, which will receive assistance in staffing from some of the other Government Departments. The articles to be rationed and the date on which rationing commences are not yet known, but full publicity will be given later. A card which will be available at all offices where ration books will be Issued is the form of application for a ration book. The card should contain the names of every member of one family and either parent may present the card and obtain the nooks in respect of all family members. It Is required that the social security coupon book In respect of every person who Is 16 years of age and over be presented when ration books are applied for. Provision Is made for the issuing of ration books to the guardians of children. Special provision will be made In regard to establishments such as boardlnghouses, nurses' homes, nursing homes, rest homes, hospitals, orphanages, boarding schools, instruction camps, restaurants, milk bars and tearooms. Some 210,000 books, It was stated, will be issued In the Auckland city and suburbs. It will be a gigantic undertaking. Applicants are especially requested to read carefully the advertisement appearing in this issue which sets out the hours of attendance at various offices for the Issue of ration books. They will save themselves much annoyance and time at the issuing centres if particular attention Is paid to the correct filling in of the application form and to the necessity of producing social security coupon books in respect of all persons of 16 years of age and over. Where families are concerned, the father or mother or head of the family should be the responsible person for the lifting of the ration books for all members.
