JAPANESE WAR EFFORTS Rec. 1.30 p.m. NEW YORK, April 8. Toyko official radio stated that Tojo, the Prime Minister, in a speech at a conference of technical researchers, said: "There is an imperative need for intensification of the efforts to produce new military devices, particularly respecting weapons, clothing, fodder, hygiene, transportation and war planes." Prizes were awarded for four outstanding contributions to the war effort, including a new type of reconnaissance plane, whose brilliant performance had been proved in the war. also a new type of gun and a special type of surface craft for landing parties.
