Mr. J. A. C. Allum is the richt man in tne right place," stated thn Mayor of Devonport, Mr. R. G. Mav. at a meeting of the Devonport ]>orcugn Conned last evening. He aNo said that Mr. Allum was" a man of quick decision and was doing excellent war work for the citv. in times money did not matter so much where the safety of lives was concerned. and he deprecated the attitude of some of the local bodies who opposed necessary expenditure because t*ey had not been previously consulted. Devonport was one of the few boroughs who had supported ivlr. Allum s war work toy accepting the E.P.S.O. budget without Question.
