WOMEN AND WAR.

I read that women may be called up compulsorily for war work. Well. I think it is about time we women •woke up and passed our opinions on this scheme. We have been called on to make enough sacrifices; giving up our men was hard enough sacrifice for any woman, and now women themselves are to play an important part in this war. It looks to me as if we are down to the levels of Germany when women have to be called on xm help win the war. Women have helped in different other wavs to win the war, without this other plan (Miss) BABS LORIGAN.

Is this talk about conscripting girls and women on the level: or just more talk? There are a number of women who would join instantly if they felt they were doing something worth while. We are not all just after uniforms. I myself believe I could help considerably to release some urgently needed trained men. Kecently, at a picture theatre, they screened a number of girls who were doing good work in Australia. Given a chance, we can do it too. This war is everybody's war, not just for men only, so could you do something about it? They say they would put us in the army and the navy. So please try to make them do it soon or the war will be over before we have a chance to help our brothers and husbands, etc. I, personally, would leave a job as manageress in a growing business to enhst in the navy to-morrow with no doubts about it.
