ART COLLECTOR DIES
MR. R. E. McDOUGALL.
(PA.) CHRISTCHURCH, Sunday. The death has occurred of Mr Robert Euing McDougall. aged 81, of ?J2? Bt^ hu £? 1 - Born in Melbourne in 1861, Mr. McDougall was brought to Christchurch at a very early age He was educated at Charles Cook's private school and Christ's College Besides being owner of Brookdale sheep station, Parnassus, and direc£m£„- a numbe r of Christchurch companies, including Aulsebrook and Company, Ltd., Mr. McDougall was keenly interested in art. He was a rlnnnA C ° + Ilec l or ' and in 1928 gave £30,000 to the city of Christchurch tor the establishment of th° McDougall Art Gallery. He was also a patron or officer of many semi-public and philanthropic bodies. A founder of the Shirley Golf Club, Mr. McDougall was its president on two occasions. i
