CITY FISH PRICES
STABILISATION ORDER. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. Retail fish prices in the Auckland metropolitan area will be stabilised as from January 5. In terms of a price order gazetted to-day all retail prices are based on the actual weights sold, that is, per lb. and pro rata, and this applies whether fish is sold whole, in steaks, fillets or any other way. Where the charge calculated _ at - the price prescribed in the price order involves a portion of a halfpenny the full halfpenny may be charged. This will not necessarily do away with the present practice of selling so many fish or fillets for a stated sum, but where fish or fillets are sold in this manner the price must be on a "per pound and pro rata" basis. Under this price order whole snapper or taiakihi is availaolt at 5d per lb. If, of course, a housewife requires these or any other kind of fish in a further processed state the price is necessarily higher.
