LABOURERS' HOURS
LOCAL BODY WORKERS
(P.A.) WELLINGTON, Tuesday. The normal hours fixed bv the Arbitration Court in the Local Bodies (Rural Section) Labourers' Award are 40 a week, Monday to Friday, but an hour extra may be worked before 5.30 p.m., without payment of overtime, on any of these days, or four hours on Saturday morninir. Men called out on Saturday are to be given at least four hours' work or be paid as for four hours.
Provision is made for shifts and for emergency work caused by rain fire, snowstorms or earthquakes, on which eight hours may be worked on any day except statutory holidays named without payment of overtime with time and a half after eight flouts. On holidays in such cases ordinary time is to be paid for the first eight hours in addition to the holiday pay and double time after eight hours.. A week's annual holiday on full pay is provided.
