TE RAPA FINALS

GAY ROSETTE'S TRIAL AN IMPRESSIVE ROUND (0.C.) HAMILTON, this day. Following overnight rain, the going was a trifle easy at Te Rapa this morning, when the course proper about 25ft out from the rails was available for horses with engagements at the approaching Auckland meeting. Some interesting work was accomplished, a feature of the morning being an impressive effort over a round by the Auckland Cup candidate, Gay Rosette (Ensor). Sly Fox (McKenzie) and Town Survey (Ham) and Gay Rosette jumped away together, running their first three furlongs in 395, the five in 1.7 4-5, Gay Rosette coming home from there to record 2.1 4-5. Town Survey was eased up at the seven furlongs, and Gay Rosette, finishing on, was well clear of Sly Fox at the end. Gay Rosette never looked better, she has prospects of picking up a stake over the holidays. The best effort over half a mile was that of Vaalsmoss, who traversed the distance in 50|s. The Vaals filly appears to have derived benefit from racing at the recent Waipa meeting. Karatoki (Long) was shading Acreman (Fenton) and General Riske (Groshtnski) at the completion of a round in 2.36, the first half-mile in 53s and the first six furlongs in 1.20. Karatoki looks well and pleased by the manner in which he was sticking to his work at the end. Flying Cross (Fenton), arter covering the first half-mile in 535, got to the end of six furlongs in 1.19 4-5. Royal Bachelor (Gollop), after loafing over the early part, finished up a round in 2.5 4-5. Tudor Rose (Ensor) and Bold Tide (C. B. Goulsbro) hit out over half a mile in 51 l-ss, doing their work well throughout. Laughing Fox (Hain) and Valerian (Ensor) were practically on terms at the completion of seven furlongs in 1.34&, their first half-mile being cut out in 52 4-ss, and the six furlongs in U1 1-5. Penzance (Hain) was not bustlea to run to the seven furlongs in 1.38}, her first half-mile in 57£. Rich Blood and Syorting Sister were companions over a circuit covering the first hall-mile in 52 1-5, the six furlongs in 1.19 1-5, and the full distance in 2.31. It was a useful effort.

Glen Connell (M. Caddy) and Erndale (Muir) were under restraint throughout a round in 2.10 4-5. Both these members of J. L. Muir's stable are in forward condition for racing ahead. Forest Glen (Groshfhski), who is to contest the hack hurdles on the second day of the Auckland meeting, was restricted to strong three-quarter pace over a round. Chary (Ensor) ran to the half-mile in 53 4-ss, and Royal Bronze (Gordon) and Gay Lally (Ensor) -were associated over three furlongs, from the half-mile to the seven, in 381s. Storm Fox (W. Prout) worked over a couple of rounds with .the Raceful filly in A. Sin ton s stable.
