WORK CONFINED TO SPRINTING TASKS
There was a fair amount of sprinting on the No. 1 grass track at Ellerslie this morning, the best efforts being those of British Talent (Messervy), who ran half a mile In 49 2-ss, and Softly (Heam), who beat Trebor (Fergus) in a *Wvjtiar task run in similar time. Golden Bonnet (Messervy) reeled off five furlongs in 1.4 2-5, the first two in 25 2-os. The stablemates, Lambourn (Stewart) and Vin d'Honneur (Morris), completed seven furlongs in 1.32, the first half a mile In 51s. They finished together and were not ridden out. Plying Spy (Green) was going comfortably at the conclusion of half a mile in 50 3-ss. Kadina (Rellly) ran six furlongs In 1.17, the first three in 37 l-ss. Silver Quex (Messervy) was holding Lady Acushla (Tremaln) at the finish of seven furlongs In 1.30 4-5. The jumpers, Wharemanea (Caddy) and Chequers (Bagby) traversed a round in 1.53 3-5, and Melvanui (Tremain) ran the same distance in 1.53. Victory Lass led Sporting Gold. Northland Son and Unadorned over three furlongs from a barrier start in 37 2-ss. This gallop was done on the two-year-old track. Peter Beckford (Fergus) impressed more than Flyllte (Poad) over four hurdles and in a similar task Ureklaw (Coon) led Night Hawk (Howard) and Bisquit (Coon) showed to better advantage than Inquisitor (Howard) over "the same fences. Northland (Turner) went over four hurdles and Orate (Turner) jumped six hurdles.
