BUSH DISPUTE SEQUEL
MAORI WOMAN BLOCKS LINE
(0.C.) TE KUITI, Wednesday. Following a dispute between the millers and the Maori owners the bush tramway between Horokino and Mangapehi south of Te Kuiti, was blocked to-day by a representative of the owners, Mrs. Mahuri, who sat in the centre of the tracks and refused to be dislodged. The locomotive went up to Horokino this morning and has so far been prevented from returning. Logs are still being received at Mangapehi from the Maeroa C block. A similar incident occurred some years ago. Following a dispute a Maori woman sat between the tracks and refused to be moved. She remained there for about two days, and only agreed to move after protracted negotiations had been completed to her satisfaction.
