FUNERALS HELD
AIR CRASH VICTIMS Full military honours were accorded yesterday afternoon at the funeral of Flight-Lieutenant H. C. Wiles, who was killed in an air accident during night flying operations near Waitara on Wednesday, the burial taking place at Purewa Cemetery. The coffin was draped with the flag of the Royal New Zealand Air Force, and there was a bearer party, escort and firing party from the Whenuapai Air Base. The Air Force pipe band played a lament. The service was conducted by the Rev. Dr. J. J. North, of the Baptist College, and the Rev. L. A. North, of Wellington. Wing-Commander J. Seabrook and a number of other officers were present, and the Auckland Aero Club, the Officers' Club, the Royal New Zealand Yacht Squadron and various other sporting bodies were also represented. Floral tributes filled three motor cars. The funeral of the other victim of the crash, Leading-Aircraftman N. W. Wilson, was conducted without military ceremony at the wish of his parents at the O'Neill's Point Cemetery. A party of officers and a bearer detachment represented the Air Force. The Rev. B.»M. Chrystall, of Devonport, and the Rev. A. G. Gardiner, chaplain at Whenuapai, officiated. 1
