orace. The painter shall not lack for all his needs. New pigments, fresher canvas and a brush Built for his purpose by a craftsman's hand. The outlines of the picture are but dim; Sure fingers and a reverent mind
and heart Will work together for its limning. It may be The artist must releam his elements, Abandon cherished lines and hopes, but he. The choice of some miraculous judge, Shall prove himself a holy dedicate, Outvirtue the great masters of the vast. ' The wondrous Phidias and Angelo, Da Vinci and Murillo and Rembrandt. • And all the sacred company of truth. —Cretan.
