NEW COMMANDANT
ARRIVAL FROM MIDDLE EAST
To command the new Armoured Fighting Vehicle School at Waiouru. Lieutenant-Colonel H. B. M. Groves. M.C., of the Royal Armoured Corps, arrived in Auckland yesterday and left last night to report at Army Headquarters in Wellington. During the last four years LieutenantColonel Groves has been stationed in the Middle East and he fought in the Libyan campaign. In addition, he organised the first tank school in Egypt, in which a number of men from New Zealand Divisional Cavalry units were trained.
I have had a great regard for New Zealanders ever since the last war. and the Battle of Messines in particular, and I still hold that opinion," said Lieutenant-Colonel Groves. He added that he considered himself lucky to have been sent to New Zealand, for lie had always had a desire to visit this countrv.
