ACTION
I heartily agree with the writer of "Action" some definite scheme' must be undertaken immediately and other schemes that require organisation and preparation must be con- ,• sidered and worked up ready to put? into operation when the war is over-V There is enough work waiting to be,; done in this country that would eßi£ 1 ploy every man and more. There; are three classes of men to be sidered in the laying-out of schemes. First we shall have those who ait , more or less invalided and wantcßSjand attention. I would propose these that the Government acquil*Ja a suitable house and land w*hich they can be partially em*? ployed. Secondly, there will be„* some men coming back who b?i?® families and could only do light/, work. For these I would suggest that they be made partly mde* , pendent if the Government acquires a large acreage of land and build plain comfortable homes (without s® many chromium gadgets), each homt having several acres. This WOOM enable the family to grow their own vegetables, have poultry, keep a cow. so making them independent. R would give children space and other l n lifc than pictures and town life but it must be at a moderate rental. Then we shall have mfl} coming back who can be employ®! m new industries. We have no end of openings in this country to start new industries and make ourselves more self-supporting. We have bills needing afforestation all over the country. We have found money ft* war; we shall also need money peace rehabilitation. Lastly we need r i, earn methods and working® of the co-operative system. RUBY E. WATSON.
