YOUNGER UNIVERSITY MEN KEEP SPORTING SPIRIT ALIVE
In spite of serious difficulties, plus postponements from one cause or another, the English universities are engaging in sport with customary zest and vigour. The tendency, as in New Zealand, is for teams to become younger than usual, as the more mature men join the services, In the recent Oxford v. Cambridge contests, Cambridge did particularly well. Oxford was beaten twice at Rugby football, and once at Association, after a drawn game. Cambridge won the boxing contest by eight bouts to two, and the crosscountry race as well, but Oxford took the athletic contest by 641 points to 524, thanks chiefly to splendid performances in the long jump, high jump, discus and hammerthrowing.
