United Press Association.—Copyrig-lTt. Rec. 5.30 p.m. LONDON, Aug. 29. A wave of rebellion against Petain's regime is sweeping France, according to a Daily Telegraph correspondent. A warning of the seriousness of the position is indicated by Petain's 300-mile journey to Auch for a conference with Darlan.
Feeling is reported to be running high in Caen, the home town of Paul Collette, who fired the shots at Laval, and recently numerous incidents have occurred. The police have renewed their drive against the opposition elements at Meknes, Toulouse, Marseilles and Rouen. Seven "militant Communists" have been arrested at Algiers. A further sign that the Vichy authorities fear unrest can be seen in a new decree against the meeting of Parliament at Vichy.
