"LUCKY BREAK"

TO LEAVE FOR OVERSEAS A "lucky break" has occurred for Miss Babette Buddie, who was originally to go to the Middle East for war service, and was prevented through illness at the last moment. Miss Buddie, who is well again, has now received notice that she will be able to leave with the other girls. "I am terribly thrilled," said Miss Buddie this morning. "It was very disappointing to be so near to going before, and thxn to be prevented, but I didn't expect such a piece of luck as this,"

Miss Buddie said she did not know whether her inclusion would mean that another girl would not be able to go, or whether 31 girls instead of 30 would leave.

Miss Buddie, who is a member of the Women's National Service Corps, was presented with a leather holdall by the fnembers of the corps this afternoon at parade. She is the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Carl Buddie, of Bassett Road, Remuera.
