LEG CRUSHED BY LOG

(O.C.i WHANGAREI, this day. A serious accident befel Mr. Ray Poyner. of Ararua, while he was engaged in tree felling operations at Hukatere yesterday morning. Mr. Poyner was driving a tractor which was being used to manoeuvre the fallen trees. A log had become dislodged, and in jumping from his seat to avoid it. Mr. Poyner slipped and was caught by the log, the lower part of his leg being crushed. He was taken to the Te Kopuru Hospital, and after receiving first aid was taken to Auckland by ambulance.
