CAPTAIN PUT OFF

R. R. King Questions Referee's Decision in Buller-West Coast Match

The West Coast captain, R. R. King, was ordered off the field in the Buller-West Coast representative game last Saturday when he questioned the decision of the referee, Mr. V. Anderson, in awarding a try to Buller, who won 6—3.

The ordering off was dealt with at a meeting of the management committee. The chairman, Mr. J. P. McEnaney, said that King had expressed himself as sorry for anything he had said and admitted that the referee was in the right.

Mr. V. Goodall said he had spoken to the referee, who remarked that King had been nagging all through the game. At times he had questioned the decision as soon as the whistle blew and then found that it was for a pertalty against Buller.

Mr. McEnaney said he thought the ordering off a sufficient penalty for such a well-known player. It was decided to recommend to the West Coast Union that King be severely cautioned for 1 his conduct.
