AUCKLANDER'S SUCCESS A member of the Ponsonby Boys' Band for eight j'ears, Jim Gussey, deputy-leader and a trumpet player in the A.B.C. Dance Band, one of the most famous in the southern hemisphere, has been appointed leader in place of Jim Davidson, who has joined the A.I.F. Entertainment Unit Jim Gussey joined the Ponsonby Boys' Band at the age of nine years He toured New Zealand with the band as a soprano cornetist, and his only musical tuition was that he received when a member of the band Leaving for Australia 13 years ago he has been associated with Jim Davidson in dance band work ever since. For a time he was a drummer at the Lyric Theatre, and later played at the Wentworth. the Ambassadors 3LO Melbourne, and the Palais Roval Sydney. " '
