HOSPITAL SHIPS
PAYMENT OF STEWARDS (By Telegraph.—Parliamentary Reporter.) WELLINGTON, this day. In a note to a notice of question in the House of Representatives yesterday, Mr. Broadfoot (National. Waitomo) declared at the present time civilian stewards were working alongside army orderlies on the hospital ship at much higher rates of pay, and this caused justifiable friction. Mr. Broadfoot asked if the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones would issue instructions providing for all stewards on hospital ships being drawn from ihe armv in future and being subject to 'armv pay and conditions. ' "
