A report submitted to the Auckland Provincial Patriotic Council last evening' stated that the first phase of the All Purposes Appeal to raise £250.000 by the end of this month, was drawing to a close, with highly satisfactory results. The apparent total of funds received from the appeal as at July 16 was £226,768. Receipts from each zone, with allocations in parentheses arc: Northland. £20,218 (£27.500>; Rodney. £3492 (£2500); Auckland, metropolitan area. £64.048 (£127,500); Franklin, £14.139 (£10,000); Waikato, £47,744 (£50,000); Rotorua. £13.093 (£12.500); Bav of Plentv. £12 098 (£11,250); Thames, £10.287 (£0250); Ohinemuri. £3587 (€2500); Provincial Council, £31,032 (nil). The total shown for "provincial council" will be spread over the various zones. Incorporated in it are substantial sums, including the diversion of centennial surpluses.
