TAKAPUNA COUNCIL
The representations made by % Mayor of Takapuna in with Wednesday's meeting can be classed as typical of his tactics. The controversy is distasteful but it it only right that the public rfwifri know the position. Firstly, althooth the hour was after 11.30 pmTtte dissatisfied councillors left the »—»■ ing solely because they objected to a member being sworn at. The Mayor was given the option of withdrawing his remark but failed to do so. Secondly, the five members who left could, at this particular have fixed the rates at any flfun they desired. They certainly aifr cised the policy of drift vUdl. among other weaknesses, makes no provision in the estimates for ckßh ing the water mains or for HPS. activities. provides a ndwi amount for maintenance am) nothing at all for permanent work* of any kind.
C. V. HOLYOAKE, Councilor.
