SOUTH AUCKLAND IS GIVEN BETTER TERMS FOR LEAGUE CONTEST
After hearing a deputation from Huntly last night, the Auckland Rugby League decided to increase the gate percentage of South Auckland for the representative game at Carlaw Park on July 12. It wae aleo resolved to favourably conniilor playinc a return game at Huntly. Mr. W. C. Davies. secretary of the South Auckland League, said that for some years past the gate percentages offered to his team had been gradually reduced. The deputation was convinced that a claim for at least 40 per cent of the gate receipts, after amusement tax was deducted, was a reasonable request. The fine showing by the South Auckland team in the last two matches was justification for favourable consideration. After a discussion in committee the chairman. Mr. G. Grey Campbell, told the deputation that the request of South Auckland would be granted. Mr. T. Shaw. Huntly. said patrons in the Lower Waikato were looking forward to seeing an Auckland team in action. Transfers of southern players were approved: M. Barnard. Christchurch to Newton; C. Webb, Stratford to City. Senior fixtures for Saturday:— Manukau r. Newton, Carlaw Park, No. 1, 3 p.m., Mr. E. Pope; Ponsonby v. City, Carlaw Park, No. 1, 1.45 p.m., Mr J Jones; Mount Albert v. Richmond, Carlaw Park No 2. 3 p.m.. Mr. J. Hawkes: North Shore v Papakura. Ellerslie Domain, 3 p.m.. Mi. O. Kelly.
