REQUESTS FOR RUGBY REP. GAMES

Requests for matches against the Auckland Rugby representatives were received at the meeting of the management committee last evening. Waikato, which usually plays home and home games with the city team, beat Auckland last Saturday and it asked that a return match at Eden Park be played on July 19. Bay of Plenty asked for a match in its own area in August or early in September and offered a contribution of £25 towards expenses. Both requests were referred to the match committee. An appeal was received from the chairmen of Groups 2 and 5 In the Fighting Forces Fund for the support of the union and Its clubs In a barrow day, to be held on Friday, June 20. It was agreed that the committee and the referees should provide barrows and that the various clubs be circularised asking for their co-operation. The Waikato Union wrote stating that It was In favour of the Introduction of a 14 days' residential qualification in connection with Peace Cup matches. It was resolved to defer consideration of the matter until replies had been received from other unions. Notification was received from the Waltemata Club to the effect that the supply of red yarn was unprocurable for their new jerseys, and a request was made that the club be granted permission to play in black Jerseys, with a green band. It was agreed to approve of the change as a temporary measure. The chairman reported that the ladies' committee was holding an afternoon in the board room of the Farmers' Trading Company tomorrow at 2.45, and he urged the various club delegates to sec that as many lady supporters as possible should attend this function. , The congratulations of the committee were extended to Mr. L. J. Meek upon his appointment as headmaster of the Kaeo District High School, and It was resolved to record the good work he had done for Rugby, not only In the primary schools, but as a member of the management committee of the union for the past four years.
