COMBINED RUN
A. Browne in Form in Ellerslie, Lynndale and University Clubs' Event There was a large attendance at tin's afternoon's combined run of the Ellerslie, Lynndale and University Harrier Clubs held over a difficult seven miles course. Ju the first pack the first 7iian home ■was A. Browne (Lynndale), 1940 provincial cross country champion, but lie was closely pursued by D. M. Harris (Ellerslie). with 0. Young (Lynndale), Q. Thompson (University). R. Crompton (Lynndale) and M. McKenzie following in that order. In the intermediate jiack. led by S. Wilsliere. F. Orange (University) ran brilliantly to bo outstanding, holding a clear lead over the concluding stages. Others to he prominent included J. Alexander ( Lynndale), Palmer (University), H. Goldfinch (Lynndale), P. Tooinan (Ellerslie) and E. Olsen (Lynndale). A very steady pace was maintained in the slow pack, those to impress being A. Davenport (Ellerslie). J. Dolan (Lynndale), Clifton (Lynndale) and Swinburn (University). After the run afternoon tea was provided by the University Club as hosts, Mr. M. McKenzie welcoming the viistors on behalf of his club. Messrs. J. P. Dolan and A. V. Stanley responded on behalf of the Lynndale and Ellerslie clubs respectively. . i
