LEAGUE ATTRACTION FOR KING'S BIRTHDAY. SATURDAY'S FIXTURES
Proposals for matches on the King's Birthday, Monday, June 2, were discussed *t the meeting of the Auckland Rugby League last evening. The chairman, Sir. G. Grey Campbell, said that a frame 'between Auckland and Soufeh Auckland would prove a good attraction, and lie reported that there was a likelihood of a Papakura Camp team being available. Mr. T. Davis said that in past years the Auckland Pakeha and Maori representative games had l>een keeuly contested, and he favoured another match of this type on the King's Birthday. There was also a. suggestion tro play a senior grade competition fixture. Fir*ality will 'be readied on Saturday, when a full report of the suggestions hae been considered. The Wellington Rugby League wrote congratulating Auckland on the success of the past season s activities and the excellent financial position of the code in the north. The Wellington Leanue mentioned that it iiad suffered heavily through enlistments, but the League was proud of the response made by players under its jurisdiction. The Ellerslie branch of the Fighting Forces Patriotic Fund appealed for a senior fixture to be arranged at Ellerslie on a date in the near future. The request was deferred pending a suitable match being arranged. The South Auckland League wrote expressing lte intention of inviting Auckland senior clubs to play matches at Huntly, The matter was referred to the secretary. Mr. I. Culpan. who was requested to advise all clubs of the offer on the occasion of their respective byes. Following a request from Mr. W. Mlncham it was decided to arrange a conference with the Referees' Association and the schoolboys' executive with a view to securing a more satisfactory allocation of rererees for boys' matches. Mr. Campbell said he would like to see more schoolboys' games at Carlaw Park. The following transfers were approved: R. Oliver. Newton to Manukau; R. Cheater, North Shore to Newton: J. S. Boyd and W.
