NEW HOSPITAL UNIT
CEREMONY AT EPSOM All arrangements were ready this afternoon for the laying of the foundation stone of the new hospital block at the Epsom Infirmary by his Excellency the Governor-General. Sir Cyril Newall. The building is estimated to cost £ir>o.ooo. and by providing bids for 261 patients will greatly re*rve hospital congestion in Auckland. A large and representative attendance was invited. The programme included addresses by the chairman of the Auckland Hospital Board, Mr. Allan J. Moody, the Mayor of Auckland, Sir Ernest Davis, the Mayor of One Tree Hill, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, and the Parliamentary member for Manukau, Mr. A. G. Osborne. After his Excellency had laid the foundation stone and addressed the gathering, the stone was blessed by the Rt. Rev. Bishop W. J. Simkin.
