POTATO PRICES FIRMER The city market wua fairly well supplied with outdoor tomatoes to-day, real choice samples selling at good prices. Any cracked and indifferent liues sold at fairly low ratoi». The inatltet was heavily supplied with tree tomatoes, some lines being hard to quit. Cape gooeeberrree are almoet finis-hod now. but tha-=e lines etill coming I'ovwaid are in fair demand. Choice coloured pnsvion fruit sold well. The eeason for persimmons is almost over. Hothouse xnipee have improved in juice over the past few days, choice samples realising fair rnt«v. There is a nominal demand for gunva.* at moderate prices. Supplies of potatoes were not so heavy and prices were slightly firmer. Carrots are still a glut on the market. The cool, dry weather has shortened supplies of cauliflower. 'Consequently prices are much highei. Good peas and strlngless beans are in demand. Onions are still coming to hand In good quantities. There was an improvement in prices for cabbage, supplies being less. Eess, Butter, Cut Flowers. Eggs.—Hen. standard grade. 3 l'i per dozen; duck. 2'll>i. Prices unchanged. Farmers' Butter.—l 4 to 1/6 per lb. offered for sale to-day and the demand was considerably improved. Probably owing to the fact that Sunday is being celebrated as "Mothers' Day." white flowers were especially In demand. There was a short supply of violets and these sold at high rates, as also did sol dors, a few of which are now arriving for sale. Paper whites are more plentiful now and selling at moderate prices. There was i>ll advance to-day in chrysanthemum prices. Irises were short and sold at high rates, as also did eood quality carnations, which were in keen demand. Fruit.
