SIR ERNEST DAVIS
TRIBUTES BY BOARD
Regrets were expressed at the conclusion of a meeting of the Auckland and Suburban Drainage Board held this afternoon that it was the last occasion en which the chairman. Sir Ernest Davis, would preside. Sir Ernest briefly reviewed the work that the board had done during the past six years, and expressed his wannest thanks to the officers and to the members. Mr. J. A. C. Allum said that Sir Ernest had done a great deal of good work for the board, and the major scheme of drainage, which he had .so strongly advocated, would be a useful post-war job. All the work had been well done, and the financial position was most satisfactory.
The Mayor of Mount Albert. Mr. H. A. Anderson, said that in all his work Sir Ernest had shown a broad metropolitan outlook. The board decided to place on record appreciation of the great services which Sir Ernest had given. In proposing the health of Sir Ernest at a lunchen held a/ter the meeting. Mr. .1. A. C. Allum said that no one had the welfare of AuckJand so closely at heart, and no one had done so much to advance the interests of the city as Sir Ernest. They hoped that both he and Lady Davis would long be spared to enjoy the amenities of the city which they had both served so devotedly. The toast was honoured with musical honours.
