RAROTONGA MAKING GOOD RECOVERY
Some email sprints were recorded at Ellerslie thia morning on the No. 3 grass track, which was available and provided good going. Those to please most were ] Don Quex, Silver Quex, Happicont and Llandaff. The stableinates Don Quex (Harris) .and Silver Quex (Meeservy) came home n<.m the half-mile post in 49 3-ss. there being little between them at the finish. In a similar task Happicoat (Smith) registered 49 4-ss, This filly is on the improve. Llandaff (Messervy), who has conio on quickly of late, was running on freely at the end of four furlongs, which occupied 50 2-ss. Other gallope: — Three Furlongs.—Stratford, 42 2-.V; Misb Valerie and Northlander, 39 2-ss. Four Furlongs.—Right Royal and G}ld Bloom, 50 2-ss; Bronzo. 545; Dublin Show, 53 l-se; Wharemanea, last four in 52 3-ss. Six Furlongs.—Vaalso, 1.20 1-5; Lap Up and Pertinax, last six of round,. 1.21 l-o; Loyal Grant, 1.20 4-5; Valmint, 1.20 1-5; Venture, 1.25 4-5. Once Round. —Ivy Willonyx, 1.52, the last six fti 1.26 1-5. Rarotonga was put doing easy work and ie making a good recovery, and should be ready to race at Te Rapa on the second day. All Irieh (Neil) and Sebrof (Mi-Kinnon) jumped four hurdles well. All Irish h'niehing clear. Rajanya iMcKinnon) went over four hurdles, Paint (McKinnon) six., and Tiebor (McKinnon) and Brazilian (Neil) several pony hurdles. Wine Berry (Neil) and Makoi (McKin-' non) were (schooled separately on the steeplechase fences in the centre, both jumping well. %
