MANGERE EXERCISES.
Field manoeuvres were carried out at Mangere East yesterday by No. 9 Battalion under the command of Major J. A. Summer ville, D.S.O. This battalion covers Mangere East, Otahuliu, Westfield, Papatoetoe. East Tainaki, Howick and Whit ford districts, and 420 guardsmen took part in the operation*. At the conclusion of the exercises a talk on the manoeuvres was given by the officer com-l ma tiding and the men were ad<?i*cssed by the area commander, Major A. W. Short, V.D. J
