VOTES BY DECLARATION.
OCCUPIERS OF STATE HOUSES. (P.A.) WELLINGTON, Thursday. The position of State tenante whose names are not on the rolls and who wished to vote by declaration at local elections was discussed by the Minister of Internal Affairs, the" Hon. W. E. lMriy, with a deputation to-day. The Minister said such persons would have the right to vote by declaration. Recent legislation had placed State tenants in exactly the same position as ratepayers so far as the inclusion of names on county rolls was concerned, said the Minister, who expressed the view that it was the duty of local bodies to see that these names were placed on the rolls.
