LADY FOWLDS PASSES.
NOTED AUCKLAND RESIDENT. Auckland has lost an old resident in the passing yesterday after a 'brief illness of Lady Fowlds. widow of the late Sir George Fowlds, first member of Parliament for Grey Lynn and a former Cabinet Minister. Lady Fowlds was in her eighty-third year.
Though unable to take a prominent part in public* life. Lady Fowlds was associated with her husband in much of the public work in which he was engaged almost until the time of his death in 1934. Sir George founded the firm of George Fowlds, Limited.
Sir George and Lady Fowld* both eamc from the parish of Chiphall. Fenwick. Ayrshire. They were married in South Africa in ISS4. and because of Lady Fowlds' health, they came to Xew Zealand the following year.
Lady Vow kls is survived by three daughters and tliroe sons: Mrs. Littlejohn and Mrs. A. S. Bailey, of Auckland, and Mrs. .T. H. Hoppes. of Portland. Oregon, and Messrs. O. M. Fowlds. W. F. Fowlds and -John Fowlds. of Auckland.
