TAKAPUNA THEFT.

BATHING ATTIRE AND TOWELS

Operating under the protection of the blackout, a sneak thief last night removed bathing costumes, towels and a small l>oy's shorts from a verandah rail outside a home in Blomfield Spa, near Hall's Corner. Takapuna. The garments had been put out to dry, and it is believed that the thief must have seen them on the rail during the afternoon, returning after nightfall to remove them. A child's pair of "hippies"' was found on a nearby section, indicating that the thief had made off through the property, instead of going out bv tiie gate. A report published earlier in the week revealed that housewives in various suburbs have found their clothes lines stripped on rising in the morning. Doubtless, for the duration of the blackout, prudent people will be forced to take in clothing when dusk falls, to obviate the risk of loss.
