Mr. H. J. Kelliher was a passenger to Wellington by air to-day.

Mr. H. T. Merritt returned to Auck land by train this morning.

Sir Albert and Lady Ellis were passengers to Wellington last night.

Mr. R. J. Kerridgc returned to Auckland by train this morning.

Mr. J. .T. Kingston, chairman of the Auckland Metropolitan Fire Board, was to-day appointed to represent the board at the annual meeting of the Sew Zealand Fire Boards Association, to be held in Wellington next month.

Dr. H. Ranston, principal of the Trinity Theological College, Auckland, for the past 10 years, is to retire this year for health reasons. He will continue to act as lecturer in several important subjects. It was decided, at the Methodist Conference yesterday, to appoint the Rev. E. W. Hames, M.A., as acting-principal for 1941.
