FULTON BEQUEST.

ENGINEERING AWARD MADE,

(P.A.) CHRISTCHURCH, this day. The Fulton bequests awards for 1940 for papers on engineering subjects were announced at the annual meeting of the New Zealand Institution of Engineers to-day. The Fulton gold medal is for the best paper by any corporation member of the institution and it was awarded to Mr. V. A. Murpliy, of the Railway Department, Wellington, for his paper on the development of rigid frame construction in New Zealand. A silver medal for the best paper by a graduate or student of the institution poes to Mr. W. P. Edwards, of the Wellington Harbour Board, for his paper on the design of reinforccd concrete retaining walls.
