DISAPPEARED AFTER DIVE

(0.C.) WHANG A R EI, this day. A young single man was drowned in the Central Park bathing pool shortlv after eight o'clock last night. The victim was: — Mr. Albert Lurman, aged 27, of JVhangarel. His parents live at Otorohanga. A work mat a, Mr. R. Cronin, watched Mr. Lurman apparently swerve in midair to avoid f. child, as' he dived. When he failed to come to the surface Mr. Cronin dived in and attempted to find him. After nil unsuccessful search he pave the alarm and about seven minutes later Mr. J.uirman's body was recovered from eipht feet of water. Artificial inspiration was applied but was unsuccessful.

For over a year Mr. Lurman had been employed as a labourer in Whangarei and was to have entered camp in January for training for overseas service. An inquest which was opened last night before the district coroner, Mr. G. H. Morrish, was adjourned.
