TANGIMOANA TRAGEDY.
(0.C.) PALMERSTON N., this day,
A Royal Air Force instructor attached to the Royal New Zealand Air Force at Ohakea was drowned when he was caught in the undertow while swimming at Tangimoana Beacli, near Palmerston North, on Saturday afternoon. The victim was:— Flying-Officer John Rowley Miller Stewart, aged 24, son of Mr: J. R. M. Stewart, of Eltham. Flying-Officer Stewart was swimming about 150 yards from the shore with two other officers from Ohakea. Seeing their companion in difficulties they went to his assistance, but the force of the undertow and the struggles of the victim prevented them from rescuing him.
