SHOT FIRED.

AUCKLAND TRAMCAR HIT.

BULLET ON BOXING DAY.

When a tram was proceeding along Khyber Pass Road about 11.30 a.m. on Boxing Day, returning empty from the Ellerslie racecourse, a bullet from a rifle shattered the glass of tha motorman's cab and struck the track brake. The tram was pulled up and the motorman, Mr. F. ,T. Baxter, and the conductor, Mr. J. Evans, made an investigation. They could not find the bullet nor the person who fired it. Speaking of the occurrence this morning Mr. Baxter said the report of the shot indicated that the bullet was fired from a service rifle. A hole was made in the glass large enough to insert two Pincers. The police were informed of the happening soon after the shot was fired. It will be recalled that a few weeks ago there was a similar occurrence in Wellington, when a tram emerging from -the M«mt Victoria, tunnel was" fired through, the buffet whistling close to two. passengers, both members of the isew Zealand-Asr "Foi*e.
