CLOTHES NEEDED.
LADY GALWAY GUILD.
The ghosts that haunt the ballroom at Government Home must be sorely perplexed at the present day doings. Piles and piles of garments, collected by members of the Lady Galwav Guild, have taken possession, and on the dais, once honoured by royalty, is a tea table where the workers have a cheery cup of tea. The hum of sewing machines is heard as busy women "re-condition" clothing for the evacuees and distressed people of London. j Since July last, over 4000 garments have been sent from the inner city branch overseas. The work is being done under the guidance of Mrs. Gladstone Hughes, the chairwoman. Mrs. Hughes, however, is shortly leaving for Wellington, and Mrs. Cyril Tewsley, who has ■been secretary since the inception of the branch, will replace Mrs. Hughes as chairwoman. Miss Ann Quayle will take up the duties of secretary. The branch will welcome parcels of clothing suitable for men, women and children. They may be left at the ballroom, Government House (entrance from Svmonds Street). A display of garments will be held by the guild' this week.
