£2026 IN BILLYCAN.
FARMER'S HOARD RAIDED.

Detwtive Lloyd told the Brisbane Criminal Court on Monday how he found £2026 in notes in a billvcan buried at the foot of a gum tree. Another £1047 was found in a car's upholstery, he said. The money had been stolen from John Paulus, farmer, of Delanev's Creek, who kept it in a wooden box behind curtain* in his bedroom. The jury found guilty three men who were charged with the theft of £3073. title deeds and private papers. Mr. Justice Man*licld sentenced Douglas Carseldine. 23, fnrm labourer, of Bracallia, and Oswald Arthur Collins, 10. farm labourer, to two and a-half years" gaol, and Roy Herbert Collins. 21, shearer, to three years. The judge suspended the eetitenccM on each entering a £100 pood-behaviour bond for three year* and paying £7 to Paulus. The Crown Prosecutor (Mr. J. A. Sheehy) Mid Paiilus carried on dairying, fattened cattle and ran sheep ou a 1700-acre property, but for many year* lie had nothing to do with banks. On June 29 Paiilus found the content* of the box intact, but on July 8 the box and contents were missing. Roy Collins kept Paulu* and Paulu*' son anil datigh-ttvr-in-law in conversation while Oswald Collins and Carseldine removed the box. Detective Lloyd said that Oswald Odlins and Carseldine took him to Carseldine* banana farm, where lie found the billvcan. Lloyd said he and another detective flew to Xew South Wales, met] Roy Collins near Wilcannia. and found a bundle of notes in the car's upholstery. I
