TRAINING NURSES.

TUTORIAL BLOCK URGED.

Provision of a tralntng school for nurses was urged in a letter which the Hospital Board received from the Direc-tor^-General of Health, Dr. M. H. Watt, who said that it was necessary to take immediate action to provide sufficient teaching accommodation at the Auckland Hcwpitai in order to prepare for the increased staff required when the new 150bed block in the Domain U in operation. The immediate erection of a tutorial block was reconimended, the building to be a separate unit on a convenient site in the hospital grounds. In view of the additional accommodation to be provided at the infirmary by the early erection of a new block there. Dr. Watt urged the board to give urgent consideration to the establishment of a training school for nurses, and said that tho Department would be prepared to recommend the infirmary being considered a B grade school. Further accommodation for the nurses at the infirmary was also required. The chairman, Mr. Allan J. Moody, said that the first work would be the new block at the infirmary, and he would communicate at once with the Department to have the plans expedited. The matter raised by Dr. Watt was referred to the building committee. Matter* in connection with nursing at the infirmary were referred to the infirmary committee.
