TARANAKI AWARD.
LOCAL BODY LABOURERS. An award for the Taranaki Local Bodies' Labourers' Union ha* been issued by the Court of Arbitration, to coinc ® into force on Monday with a terra oi one year. It provides for a fiva-day week of 40 hours and wages of not less than 2/5 per hour, or £4 11/6 per week ( for those who are not permanent hands, and payment of 1/ extra per day for those engaged in tar and bitumen work, other than sprayers and nozzle-men, who are to get 1/6 per day extra, t There is provision for extra alldwances f also for other classes of workers, e Workers engaged ou kerbing and chani nelling are to be paid £4 18/ per week; 0 sextone, pump attendants and assistant q turncocks £5; And turncocks £5 5/, t These rates are all subject to the increase under the general order of the Court, dated August 9, granting a five il per cent increase. The annual holiday II for those employed by the week is fixeii 1 at one week on full pay at the end ol e each year's service, the time of the holi '. day to be fixed and approved by th< employer.
