PAT AND TAXATION. WELLINGTON*, this day. In reply to an urgent question from Mr. Kyle (Opposition, liiccarton) in the House of Representatives yesterday, the Minister of Defence, Mr. Jones, said that the social security charge of 5 per cent on military pay received by members of the Territorial Force called up for special training and that received by members of the Home Defence and Expeditionary Forces was being paid by the Government.

Mr. Kyle also aeked the Minister an urgent question relating to the payment of travelling expenees to Territorials.

Replying to this question, the Minister said that schedule* of the amounts due to Territorials for travelling expenses had been received by the district headquarters from the Territorial units concerned, and these were at present being checked preparatory to payment being made. '"I have given instructions to expedite payment of the amount* due," the Minister added.— (Parliamentary Beporter).
