OBITUARY.

MR. JAMES HASLAM. MILK COUNCIL MEMBER. One of the original members of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council, Mr. James Haslam, has died, aged 60. Born in Bolton, Lancashire, Mr. Haslam became a cotton epinner there. He came to New Zealand with his wife and family in 1908 and went into bueiness as a milk vendor at R'emuera. This business he continued until the time of his death. Mr. Haelam wae president of the Auckland Milk Vendors' Association for many years. On the formation of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council eight yeare ago, lie was elected as one of the vendors' representatives and had held his seat on the council ever eince. An enthusiastic bowler, Mr. Haslam wae a foundation member of the Rawhiti Bowling Club. He wae also a Rechabite. He ie survived by his wife, a daughter and two sons. One of hie sons, Mr. R. Haslam, is an Auckland representative footballer.

A tribute to the late Mr. Haslam, a foundation member of the Auckland Metropolitan Milk Council, was paid by the chairman, Mr. I. J. Goldstine, when the council met this morning, and the meeting was adjourned for a week as a mark of respect.

Mr. Goldstine said Mr. Haslam had served almost continuously as a representative of the milk venders and had always strongly espoused the cause of the interests he represented. Throughout his term of office he had been an esteemed member. A resolution expressing sympathy was carried.

MR. A. B. WILSON. Associated with the printing trade in New Zealand for many years, Mr. Alexander Brown Wilson has died, aged 09. Air. Wilson was born in Kilmarnock, Scotland, in 1871- He came to the Dominion with his family in 1876, landing at Port Chalmers and later moving to Wellington. Here Mr. Wilson was apprenticed as a young man to the bookbinding trade. He went to London for a period to gain further experience, and on his return occupied leading positions in the trade in Wellington and Auckland. For the last 20 years he had been on the directorate of Leightons, Ltd., and in charge of their manufacturing department. Mr. Wilson is survived by his wife and two sons.
