PROPOSAL BY FARMERS.
" DOG MEAT FOR POULTRY."
(By Telegraph.—Press Association.)
DAXXEVIRKE, this da v.
The Southern Hawke's Bay Farmers' Union discussed the question of the abolition of all forms of racing during wartime, including greyhound racing.
In making a proposal to this effect. Mr. J. M. Wright said the oats being used to put down the necks of racehorses could be used to better purpose. Racing dogs should be destroyed and their carcases used for feeding poultry and the skins in making coats for men on mine sweepers.
After a discussion, during which reference was made to the effect the proposal would have on Government revenue, 51 motion was carried recommending the Council of Primary Production to consider the suggestion.
